Terms of use.

Short version: this is an independent community site, best-effort accurate, not professional advice, and if you send us something to publish we'll treat you fairly. Long version below.

What this site is

La Tuna Canyon is an independent community website about a neighborhood in the northeast San Fernando Valley. It is not operated by the City of Los Angeles, Council District 7, any neighborhood council, any historical society, any real-estate agency, or any government body. Views, writing, and editorial decisions are those of the site's maintainers.

Accuracy and currency

We do our best to keep facts, phone numbers, addresses, and civic contacts accurate, but errors happen and the world changes. Before relying on anything on this site for a decision that matters — especially emergency contacts, school assignments, council office details, and business hours — please verify against the official source linked on the page. If you find something wrong, email us and we'll fix it.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is legal advice, real-estate advice, financial advice, medical advice, or fire-safety advice in the professional sense. The wildfire and canyon preparedness page draws on CAL FIRE and LAFD guidance, but your specific property and situation may differ — consult a professional inspector for defensible-space compliance, an attorney for legal questions, and so on.

Business listings are informational, not endorsements

When we list horse-boarding facilities, dog kennels, the native-plant nursery, or other canyon businesses, those listings are informational. They are not paid placements. They are also not endorsements — we haven't audited these businesses' current operations. Verify hours, services, availability, and suitability directly with each business before relying on it.

Emergencies — always use official channels

For any active emergency — fire, medical, crime, gas leak, evacuation order — call 911 or use the official channels listed on the wildfire preparedness and civic contacts pages. Do not rely on this site as an emergency information source in real time.

Content copyright and reuse

Original writing, design, and layout on this site is © 2026 La Tuna Canyon and its maintainers. Historic photographs, archival materials, and third-party quotations are used under fair use for educational and community purposes, with attribution on the page where they appear. If you own rights to material used here and want it removed or differently credited, email us at the address on the contact page.

Personal, non-commercial reuse — sharing a link, quoting a paragraph in a school project, reposting a fact with credit — is welcome. For larger reuse (reprinting, commercial use, adaptation), please ask.

Contributor licensing

If you contribute content — a family story, a photograph, a correction, a tip — you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish it on this site, with attribution (or anonymously) as agreed with you. You retain ownership of what you contribute. You can ask us to take down your contribution at any time by emailing us.

By contributing, you confirm that (a) you have the right to share the material, (b) it does not infringe anyone else's copyright, privacy, or reasonable expectations, and (c) you're not asking us to publish anything defamatory or unlawful.

No warranties

This site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind — express or implied — about accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. Use of the site is at your own risk.

Changes to these terms

If these terms meaningfully change, the "last reviewed" date at the top of this page will update. Small corrections may happen without a date update.
